Compelled. Again.

Maybe the only way I can let the paint dry between applications is to write. Other options are... overwork the piece, or eat?

So... step one:
Technique

Make pink
From a photo
Draw inside the lines
But first apply water
No, mix color first
Then apply water

Before step one:
Shop
decompress in art store. wander aimlessly looking at stuff I don't need. acclimate. get the big picture. ignore music. crowd.
Take out list. move towards water color paints...
Keep going down list. Ask for help. Interact with friendly customers. Chill. Enjoy.
Remember to breath at check out, even after the discount.
Possible to enjoy the process. Breath.

In CLASS:
Demo, notes, took pics.

Got back to my desk. Tune in, while tuning out.
Put MORE paint in the wells, it's ok.
'Trace' photo of P I N K rose. aaaarg.
Review step ONE.

Ok, so I can't follow ALL the directions at one time...

Ok. I think I got it out of my system...
Nope. Eat something.
Now...
Try without line
Try mixing paint IN pallet
Try lines
OK, now try a rose shape...oops.
CLASS OVER!

At HOME:
Saturday ~ set up at home
Sunday ~ draw rose freehand, paint inside the lines with mixed paints... write, repeat.

Two things

Memory

Future

Three

Who cares

Four

Does it matter

Five

Why

The present comprises both yet I do not know how to coexist with either

Winter Light

I woke up with Richard again
all month, the light
Angling into the winter window

Less than three years
non sensical
Reality

Life settles
then the remembering
Cells start blasting

the Sound of what
is not there
but was

What matters
rainbows on the picture frame
candle sticks on the kitchen table

Stars reflecting
on a Bodega shoreline
Dawn

Winter light travels
in his footsteps
past his lens

going forward backwards

difficult to be still

there but a blur

Going back

to art,

drawing,

painting,

hurts.

I didn't expect it.

yet again.

I see even when I am not picking up a pencil, pen, brush, camera.
